Ngu Chie Kieng has accumulated extensive experience in the investment banking sector throughout his career, and began his illustrious career in the securities industry 1996 when he joined TA Securities Berhad, one of the largest financial institutions in Malaysia, as an investment analyst. He was later promoted to Senior Investment Analyst and subsequently Head of Research, where his responsibilities included developing investment strategy and macro economic analysis. While his specialising in banking and financial sector, Ngu is also well recognised for his analyses on information technology, semiconductor, food & beverages, and the oil & gas sector, leading to him winning numerous awards as an analyst.

Ngu was later promoted to and made responsible for overseeing the group’s financial services entities. He was instrumental in developing corporate finance business into the core earnings generator of the group, and established the structured products division. His portfolio during this stint included overseeing the futures and derivatives business. He was also the key person responsible for the development and management of the unit trust business, and sat on several investment and management committees.

Ngu then left to set up HVS Advisory Sdn Bhd in Malaysia and HVS Securities Joint Stock Company in Vietnam in 2008. At HVS, Ngu was involved in all phases of development including strategic planning, deal origination, structuring, execution and consultancy. He acted as consultant for companies involved in information technology, food & beverages, chemical, oil & gas, hardware products, and consumer products.

Ngu is widely recognised in the corporate sector and the business media, with frequent appearances on business TV, in news articles and on magazine covers. He was a noted contributor to various business columns and also speaks at various forums on the area of investment and economy.

Ngu holds a Bachelor of Science in Business degree, majoring in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Business (Finance) from Oklahoma City University, USA.
