Celine Leong commenced her career at PriceWaterhouse (now known as PwC) Malaysia in 1993 in the audit department where she gained invaluable experience in the field of audit. Subsequent to PwC, Celine served more than 22 years at the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) where she gained extensive experience in the field of auditing, accounting and securities market regulations, having held various key positions as General Manager & Head of Corporate Surveillance and Head of Inspection in the Audit Oversight Board (AOB). She last held the position of Deputy Director & Head of Investigation prior to her retirement in mid of 2020.
During her tenure at the SC, Celine was instrumental in restructuring key processes and functions within the organisation as well as implementing measures to enhance the SC’s regulatory function. She was a pioneer member during the inception of AOB and was entrusted to set up the building blocks of AOB’s fundamental processes. She was also tasked with spearheading several working groups to coordinate enforcement actions and strengthening market regulations with extremely successful results. In executing the various roles entrusted to her, Celine has also established strong working relationships with various international regulators. Some of her notable engagements were with the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and ASEAN Audit Regulators Group (AARG).
Celine represented the SC as an elected council member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) from October 2015 to October 2019 where she was responsible for providing recommendations on a broad range of matters affecting the Malaysian Capital Market.
Her exemplary attitude and aptitude ultimately led to the successful outcomes on all fronts resulting in several commendations from the SC.
Celine joined the ACE Group in January 2021. Her responsibilities include amongst others, overseeing the accounting and treasury functions of the ACE Group as well as advising on the organisation’s long-term business and financial planning strategy.
Celine holds a bachelor’s degree with Honours in Accounting from University Malaya. She is a designated Chartered Accountant, member of the MIA and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accounts (MICPA).
