Sung begun his career as an auditor in Ernst & Young, one of the leading firms in the assurance business in 1997 after graduating with Bachelor of Business (Distinction) from the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Subsequently, he joined one of the largest universal banking group in ASEAN in 2002 in the Corporate Finance Department where he was involved in various equity fundraising, corporate exercises, cross-border mergers and acquisitions for both private and public listed companies alike.
Collectively, Sung has garnered at least 20 years of relevant industry experience from 1997 to 2021. Key notable projects include initial public offering of a large retail business in Indonesia, acquisitions of life and general insurance private companies in Malaysia, acquisition of a food chain business in Malaysia, cross-border acquisitions of a Malaysian listed company in the logistics sector by a South Korean conglomerate and privatisations of several listed companies involved in the industrial and manufacturing businesses in Malaysia by foreign corporations.
During his tenure in the financial services and capital markets sector, Sung was also part of the pioneer team which was spearheading the establishment of a South Korean Financial Institution Group’s first foray into investment banking business in Malaysia to enhance its visibility and increase in deal flows for South Korean banking group here.
Sung is also a qualified Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand since 2002.
